The Warmth that Lingers Within; [16 Mar 2008|02:01pm]

The sheer reality of being inches away from a band I've loved for so long didn't creep up on me up until I entered the concert hall. Here it was - it wasn't the first time I would get to watch them live but it felt like anything but the second time.

The overwhelming feeling of being able to hear them live again honestly made me want to cry with joy in a non-fangirl way. I suppose I outgrew my fangirl stage and was there simply to enjoy the music, the lyrics. It was never about Brandon's half naked body or something like it for me. As I sat there waiting, I was reminded of March 12, 2004 - where I was sitting on the curb outside of CCP's complex, wishing, waiting, wanting to get in on time. I was writing about Incubus on my arm and leg.

I guess this was somewhat symbolic of how I would give my arm and leg just to experience them live. I was 14 back then and was singing Pantomime at the back of my head.

Now here I was, 18 and observing - inches away from the stage, placing each member on their respective places. Mike on his guitar, making love to his pedals. Kilmore jumping and bopping his head on his kitchen sink that is his turn tables. Jose gripping onto his drumsticks, slamming onto the cymbals as if his life depended on it. Ben smiling while looking out onto the crowd that embraces his new but relatively old bass experimentations. Lastly, Brandon who would act like an animal high on the euphoria that is the screaming of vast crowds. I scribbled the date down onto my chucks, MARCH 09, 2008. Inspiration redifined.

As people threw their hands up in the air, I balanced myself up on a seat I would jump on and I would sooner than later scream until I tasted my own blood in my mouth. Skeptical to hear the Light Grenades set, I paused for a bit - took a deep breath and actually listened to how this experimentation would rape me. I opened my eyes and smiled at how this was reminscent of what made me love Incubus some 10 years ago - their love for raw music and how their instruments seem to rip every gut in my body and how their lyrics seer into my soul.

I was off key singing to their songs, I felt like I murdered them but there was a part of me that didn't care and just kept on singing. There's always a satisfying feeling of being able to sing every song, released or unreleased, correctly unlike the girl beside you who just kept on saying "BRANDON" at the top of her fangirlish lungs. It is quite hard to sing and scream all at the same time.

As I called the people that mattered in order to give them a sense of live-ity (I made-up the word, so sue me) I honestly wished they could have been there. I knew how much Incubus mattered to them, how their love quite possible transcended beyond Brandon Boyd's abs. I wish they were there instead of the recieving end of my phone call, screaming and thrashing about their rooms like crazy people - careful or not caring to wake people up.

I feel honored and ovewhelmed at exactly how lucky I feel to be able to watch them once again. For them to have chosen to grace the Philippines with their music - we certainly made an impression on them, a good one I'm sure.

As the crowd bursts out and sing along to Wish You Were Here - I remember the voice of a good friend of mine who I lost to tragedy sing along. He loved this song, I loved this song. Hearing it live was different from hearing it on my iPod. As Brandon gave the mic to the crowd - I sang, eyes closed, half smiling, hands raised - and in this moment I am happy.

Til the next time. Kudos.

Berkeley Concert Pics [15 Jul 2007|06:11pm]

[ mood | giddy ]

Hey I hope everyone who was at last night concert enjoyed every word spoken or sung, every note, every solo and pretty much second of it!

I was wondering, while I do have some pics from the concert, does anyone have any pics from last night theyd like to share.

Oh and also, I remember the songs they played but not their order. If anyone can let me know that too, I'd appreciate it.

Yeah, so I figured since I've been a part of a few Incubus communities, I'd post some art. I see everyone posting wallpapers, icons, ect ect.. I want to do something different. I only have two so far right now. I'm working on about four or five more projects right now at the same time. So much stuff to do.. not enough time to do it. I'm also posting a few pics from the fourth time seeing them. My kid brother and I got to meet them for the second time.. We got front row after the meeting.. It was awesome.. But here they are!

Incu-art!Collapse )

detroit show cancelled [02 Feb 2007|09:22pm]

So after waiting out in the bitter cold for 2 and a half hours, we were told (an hour before doors) that Brandon is not feeling well and the show is being postponed and/or refunded. We'll find out next week. But its such a bummer. I hope it gets rescheduled towards the end of the tour.
Also I hope this doesnt effect the shows in the other cities, but if you are seeing them soon, i would check before leaving to make sure it hasnt been cancelled.

Utterly random question, here. [31 Jan 2007|11:07pm]

[ mood | curious ]

Hey kids.

Does anyone happen to know what Brandon's heritage is?

I don't know why the hell this is bugging me the way it is, but the question came to me earlier and I can't seem to stop wondering now. I'm going nutters and, unless I'm really skimming over something here, I haven't been able to find it on a site yet.

Thanks. :)

how is everybody doing? i hope everyone's shows are going AWEsome! mine was and i plan on sharing a few of the pictures later.

i have a very desperate, pathetic question to ask... i am in great need. ;)

i wanted two of the brandon 'protect your best asset' marc jacobs shirts, but by the time i was blessed with funds they were sold out or stopped the promotion.
if ANYone has a small and large i would be very grateful to take them off your hands.

i've also tried ebay but i suck at their searches and haven't been able to come up with ANYthing. so if anyone has any advice there either i will love you forever.

thanx for listening to me.

INCUBUS rocked it in O-town, FL... [23 Jan 2007|01:36am]

here's how the set list went...
> break, - goes into

Just a Phase > Anna Molly > Paper Shoes > jam - Nice to Know You > Warning > Out From Under > Here In My Room > Redefine (acoustic) > jam - Megalomaniac (during this song, someone threw a bra on stage which Brandon proceded to wear around his neck for the rest of the song) > I Wish You Were Here > Dig > Are You In? > Sick Sad Little World - drum solo/jam (Brandon/Jose) - bass solo - whole band jam - SSLW guitar solo - end of Sick Sad Little World > Earth to Bella pt. 1 (Mike on 2nd bass and Brandon on acoustic) - Earth to Bella pt. 2 >> "space noise" by Kilmore - Quicksand - A Kiss to Send Us Off

it made me so happy to be there. All the bullshit of the last week, faded away when I was standing there. I wish they would have played 2x as long... at least. Oh, now I can dream till the next time...

Good night to all you beautiful people............

I "Dig" Incubus [08 Dec 2006|10:40am]

I am a film major at the University of Alabama... Actually we only shoot with miniDV and soon HD cameras(next semester). I wanted to do the music video for "Dig" and I have the capacity, but I would have logistics issues with getting talent and locations... but I would do it if I had the time and meins. I do have access to Final Cut Pro 5 so I could do a video with the supplied videos, but I don't have the time *finals are next week. I will not have access to our FCP lab after that. I am currently editing a video that I shot for Quick Sand, but it's not impressive. When I started that video I didn't know about the I Dig Incubus project... I wish I knew then what I know now!

I may send in my Quick Sand video to the address listed on the sight any way.

BTW: does anyone know why Incubus didn't include Punch Drunk and Look Alive on Light Grenades? I think the two songs match the album. (well punch drunk is a bit slow)

Sorry if this is a duplicate post

how many of you have figured this out? [08 Dec 2006|03:32am]

[ mood | curious ]

there is an import version of Light Grenades. it has two extra songs, Punchdrunk, a very beautiful love ballad, and Look Alive!, a very energetic rock with structure slightly similar to a S.C.I.E.N.C.E. song. They are both excellent, and i personally wish they were on the American version. **shakes fist in frustration**

It took the "favorite album" spot for me, after Make Yourself held it for 7 years. Dig melts me to the floor every time, and Rogues is a wonderful spunky crazy explosion of musical fun. Ah, INCUBUS!!!

Alternative Press gave Light Grenades 3 out of 5 stars. I feel like they deserve more than that. How does every one else feel about that. Also did anyone else read any other reviews? I can't find any.

Light Grenades!!! [28 Nov 2006|07:38am]

Well the UPS truck came late, but I finally got my Light Grenades album yesterday! I listened to it 2 1/2 times in a row and I think that it's really awesome. My favorite songs now are "Light Grenades", Paper Shoes, and Love Hurts. I was also a bit shocked that this album is squeaky clean. I guess Incubus likes to do clean then not so clean albums one after the other. You can tell that Brandon's singing style has changed for good (compared to MYS)... I liked the sound that they used in "Light Grenades" and I really like the "Earth to Bella" songs. The guitar parts seem to be low in volume compared to ACLOTM. I kind of wish that they would have included "Inspiration" and some other stuff from StealthI also liked the artwork that accompanied the songs in the lyric sheet. I'm glad I pre-ordered because I am sure that the music stores are going to run out around lunch time today.
